About this Event
Yeah that's me. DeviantArt journal entry dated September 7th, 2009. Thus began a unbroken run of checking indie rock publication Pitchfork.com every single day for the next 16 years... and counting.
You had to be there, man. During those boom years of indie rock (Roughly, the 2004 release of Arcade Fire's Funeral and peaking with the same band's The Suburbs winning the Album of the Year at the 2011 Grammy Awards) you could build your entire life around this website. What's kinda wild is that, even past their peak, they're still the most dependable source around for well considered critisism.
Nobody says it but every indie disco party is just a Pitchfork party in disguise. Be honest, you wouldn't know who Animal Collective or LCD Soundsystem or Yeah Yeah Yeahs or Beach House or Grizzly Bear or The Rapture is without these guys. So we're saying it. I, Holiday Kirk, am dusting off my Pitchfork Music Festival tickets and putting together the most critically acclaimed playlist of, not just indie rock, but all the pop, rap, dance and more that they've served us through the obligitory Pitching of the Fork.
Might even sneak a Jet song in there, just for fun.
