ABOUT AYYA KĀRUNIKĀ
Ayya Kārunikā was born in Sri Lanka and migrated to Australia in 1999. Formerly a scientist with a PhD in Microbiology from Murdoch University, she entered monastic life in 2010 after learning the Buddha’s teachings under Ajahn Brahm’s guidance. She was ordained as a bhikhkuni in 2014 at Dhammasara Nuns Monastery.
She is now the abbess of Santi Forest Monastery and Spiritual Director of the New Zealand Bhikhkuni Sangha Trust. She is an experienced meditator with excellent knowledge of the suttas, leading meditation and Dhamma workshops internationally.
