About this Event
7 hours verifiable CPD
A comprehensive hands-on course exploring the modern management of white spot lesions, hypomineralisation and early enamel lesions using DMG Icon resin infiltration, contemporary tooth whitening protocols and NIRI-supported diagnosis.
This immersive course combines theory, live clinical discussion and practical hands-on training in both Vestibular and Proximal Icon infiltration techniques. Delegates will develop confidence in lesion assessment, treatment planning, rubber dam placement, resin infiltration protocols and finishing techniques for predictable aesthetic outcomes.
The course also explores how tooth whitening integrates into minimally invasive treatment planning, alongside the growing role of NIRI scanning in detecting, monitoring and guiding enamel treatment decisions.
Aims and Objectives
Explore the causes, diagnosis and classification of white spot lesions and developmental enamel defects
- Discuss the science and optical principles behind Icon resin infiltration
- Review contemporary tooth whitening protocols and treatment sequencing
- Understand the role of NIRI scanning in early lesion detection and minimally invasive workflows
- Explore management strategies for fluorosis, MIH, post-orthodontic lesions and traumatic hypomineralisation
- Discuss consent, patient expectations and treatment limitations
- Develop understanding of proximal and vestibular Icon treatment protocols
- Troubleshoot common complications and differing lesion presentations
- Explore finishing and polishing protocols for optimal aesthetic integration
Hands-On Components
- Rubber dam placement for resin infiltration procedures
- Vestibular Icon infiltration protocols
- Proximal Icon infiltration techniques
- Lesion assessment using dehydration and optical changes and NIRI technology
- Finishing and polishing protocols following infiltration
- Tooth whitening workflow integration into treatment planning
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, participants should be able to:
- Confidently identify and assess lesions suitable for I`con treatment
- Understand when whitening should be incorporated into treatment planning
- Perform predictable vestibular and proximal Icon infiltration procedures
- Demonstrate effective moisture control and rubber dam placement
- Understand how NIRI scanning supports minimally invasive diagnosis and monitoring
- Recognise the limitations of resin infiltration and when adjunctive restorative treatment may be required
- Improve confidence in managing aesthetic enamel defects conservatively
- Understand the legal implications of tooth whitening prescribing
