Join Sno-King Watershed Council, in partnership with the City of Kenmore, for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service habitat restoration in Wallace Swamp Creek Park on Monday, January 20 from 11 am - 2 pm!All ages welcome. Volunteers under 18, please contact us for a guardian consent form if you won't bring a grown up with you. Come when you can and stay as long you are able.
How to prepare
• Come dressed in clothes and footwear for the weather, including possible rain and coolness or heat and sun.
• Wear footgear that will keep your feet dry and warm and that you don't mind getting muddy, wet, or dirty.
• Wool or other thick socks may keep your toes warm if it is cold.
• Thick pants (denim or similar) might help protect your legs from blackberry thorns.
• Sunscreen, hats, and layers are also good!
Please bring
• a water bottle
You may bring if you would like
• Work gloves if you have them
• Your favorite tool (shovel/clippers) if you would like to use it
BUT
We will have tools and gloves to share with everyone.
Please note
There is no bathroom on site. There is a public restroom at Safeway, 6850 NE Bothell Way, Kenmore, WA 98028, a 3 minute drive or 25 minute walk.
Our tasks, generally, are clipping Himalayan blackberry canes, digging root balls, digging knotweed, digging other non-native invasive plants, and hauling mulch. We also plant native trees and shrubs during planting season.
