About this Event

Date: 3rd May 2026 (Sunday 2:30 - 5:30 pm)

Location: Trainstein Chess College, Level 1, 308 Victoria Avenue Chatswood

Age: Under 18 years old ( i.e. players who are aged 17 or less on the day of the tournament)

Rating Restriction: There is no strict rating restriction, but we will recommend it for players with a JCL rating below 650

Cost: $50

Time Control: 15 minutes per player per game

Format:

  1. Teams: Each team will have 2 to 6 players, assigned by Trainstein coaches based on rating, age, and chess skills. No need to form a team in advance. Players are welcome to bring friends to join the tournament and can request to be in the same team. We will do our best to accommodate these requests, though it is not guaranteed.
  2. Tournament Format: A Swiss system or Round Robin with approximately 5 rounds, ensuring all players play five games with no eliminations.

Prizes: Medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams. Additional individual medals and prizes can be earned based on age, rating, and performance. All other participants will receive a Trainstein certificate.


Notice:

  1. Our JCL-rated team tournament is open to anyone under 18 years of age—you do not need to be a Trainstein Chess College member or student to participate
  2. Game scores will be submitted to the NSW Junior Chess League for record-keeping
  3. Please ensure you arrive on time and follow the game rules. Trainstein Chess College reserves the right to disqualify any participant who does not adhere to the instructions, to maintain order and fairness throughout the tournament
  4. While unlikely, Trainstein Chess College reserves the right to cancel a tournament due to insufficient enrolments. In such cases, participants will be notified, and fees will be refunded or credited
