🪶✨ Teaching of the Drum: Indigenous Craft Workshop ✨🪶
Learn the Kitigan Zibi (Bear Clan) Teachings of Drum Making
Step into a powerful, sacred learning experience that honours tradition, story, and connection. This two-part workshop invites you to explore the teachings of the Kitigan Zibi Bear Clan and understand the deep cultural history behind hand drum making — a practice rooted in identity, healing, and community.
Led with care and respect, you’ll learn the stories carried by the drum, why it is created the way it is, and how its heartbeat connects us to land, ancestors, and spirit. Participants will then craft their own traditional hand drum using guided techniques and materials provided.
Honouring Tradition:
In the teachings shared, your first drum is meant to be gifted. To help keep this meaningful tradition alive, we encourage participants to bring a friend or loved one who will receive the drum you create — making the experience even more powerful and personal.
As part of the full experience, your registration also includes a Medicine Pouch Workshop held during our Drum Feasting and Birthing Ceremony. These pouches are traditionally tied to the drum to hold sacred medicines, infusing your creation with intention, protection, and spirit.
This is more than a workshop — it is an immersive cultural journey that honours the teachings, responsibilities, and beauty of drum making.
