In 1519, Ferdinand Magellan set sail on a voyage that would change the world forever. Though he did not survive the journey, his expedition became the first successful circumnavigation of the Earth, proving that the oceans were connected, the world was far larger than imagined, and that human curiosity could outpace fear. His crew returned three years later—weathered, hungry, triumphant—having redrawn the map of human possibility.
In that same spirit of bold exploration (but with better coffee, fewer scurvy concerns, and significantly more bike shorts), the Sanford Bicycle Club invites you to join us as we circumnavigate our own inland sea: Lake Monroe.
🚴‍♂️ Voyage Details
⏰ Departure: 10:00 AM sharp from Foxtail Coffee
📍 Route:
• Roll out from Foxtail and turn left onto the Riverwalk
• Cruise past the Central Florida Zoo
• Cross the bridge into Volusia County and slip into the woods toward Gemini Springs
• Continue on to Green Springs
• Enjoy a scenic, shaded ride through the backwoods toward Osteen
• Make a sharp right onto SR‑415, crossing the mighty St. Johns River again
• Follow SR-46 toward Sanford
• Return triumphantly to Foxtail Coffee, completing a full circumnavigation of Lake Monroe
📏 Distance: Approximately 28 miles
🍳 Mid‑Voyage Resupply: A hearty breakfast stop at the Osteen Diner to refuel, hydrate, and gather provisions for the final leg of the expedition
