Join us for a 1-hour (AVA-sanctioned 5KM (3.1 miles) or 2-hour (10KM (6.2 miles) group walks in historic downtown Sanford, FL.
START POINT: Tailgate registration in the parking lot across from the Historic Sanford Welcome Center - look for the yellow 'Walk Start' sign & large green club banner with Happy Wanderers logo.
You may walk with the group or - at your own pace, please ask for map/directions at registration.
Registration starts 30 minutes prior to walk.
The cost is $4.00 for participants 12yrs old or older. Children to be accompanied by an adult. Volksmarchers will receive AVA credit for this event.
We recommend sunscreen and carrying your own water. Trail Rating: 1A 1= Very small hills or very little stair climbing.
A = Almost entirely on pavement.
Sanford is at the edge of Lake Monroe, one of many lakes that are part of the St. Johns River (the River of Lakes) flowing very slowly northward through the east side of Florida. This walk will take you along the beautiful Lake Monroe Waterfront Stroll way and through the wonderfully restored historic Downtown District circa 1887. Also stroll through many of the city's parks and past the preserved and varied historic homes.

The walk is rated 1A (flat & easy), it is on sidewalks through the Historic District including residential streets, parks and the downtown shopping / main street area. This walk is suitable for wheelchairs/strollers. Pets are allowed but must be leashed.
Directions From I-4 take Exit 101C and drive approximately 4 miles eastbound on SR46 (1st Street) to the Sanford Historic District. After crossing French Ave. (Route 17-92), continue to the second traffic light at Palmetto Ave. and turn left. Parking is available in the lot on the right.
