📣 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁? The radical jazz of the ‘30s and ‘40s, which brought black and white youths together to challenge segregation and prudishness? The revolutionary and psychedelic counterculture music of the ‘60s and ‘70s, which advocated for peace and contributed to the ending of the Vietnam War? The new wave music of the ‘80s, with its eclectic mix of punk, electronica and music videos, which challenged social alienation and governmental oppression, plus the fundraisers to combat famine and disease? Or how about the Britpop bands of the ‘90s, whose lyrics called out the squalidness of working-class life and addiction?
🎼 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, regardless of our different backgrounds. Let’s come together to fight back against today’s divisive politics, for our artistic freedom, our wellbeing, and our unity!
🗳️ I’m 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀, a politician of immigrant heritage. I’ve been working voluntarily for five years to improve the 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 in my workplace, my labour union, and in Finnish politics through 𝗛𝗘𝗟𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗞𝗜 𝗟𝗘𝗙𝗧, the non-profit chapter of Left Alliance that I co-founded and chair. I recently became a deputy member of the City of Helsinki’s Equality & Non-Discrimination Commission. I’m now standing in the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 to become a councillor, with the aim of taking my work to the broader city level.
🌍 𝗜 𝗰𝗮𝗻’𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲. Grassroots activism is a collective effort, and in order to take it to the next level, I’m reliant upon the support of the communities I’m a part of. It doesn’t matter if you’ve got two Left feet! You don’t need to have strong political views to take part in my campaign’s launch party. Come and dance the night away to jazz or music from the ‘60s–‘90s, listen to short speeches by leading politicians, and 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 which champions immigrants, promotes investment in public services, and takes climate and biodiversity action seriously!

🫶🏽 Everyone’s welcome – please bring your friends, especially from the immigrant community! Safer spaces guidelines will be in force.

🍪 Light snacks will be served on the house!
🍺 Modestly-priced soft drinks and alcoholic drinks up to 2.8% ABV will be available to buy. The small amount of profit generated from their sale will go towards my campaign’s funds. You’re also welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks with you.
💶 Free entry. Recommended donation: €5 to €25, according to your ability – but you’re very welcome to join us without donating. Raised funds will be used to print flyers and run social media adverts to raise awareness of the campaign. Donations will be accepted at the event or in advance from 13th October onwards via MobilePay (political money collection). Thanks for your support!
