🐾 Tails & Trails: Dog Day at the Zoo (2–3 Miles).🐕 Dogs at the Zoo?! Yes, really. Join East Coast Hikers for a relaxed social walk during the Virginia Zoo’s special Tails & Trails Dog Day, one of the only days dogs are allowed inside the zoo. Bring your pup or just come enjoy a fun afternoon walking the zoo paths with fellow hikers. 🥾

⏰ Meet at 2:45 PM | Walk starts 3:00 PM.
We’ll stroll the paved zoo pathways together at a comfortable pace and explore the zoo along the way. Expect about 2–3 miles of easy walking.
🐾 No dog? No problem. You are absolutely welcome to join even if you don’t have a dog.
🎟️ Zoo Admission (paid to the zoo).
• Adults (12+): $20.
• Seniors (62+): $18.
• Children (2–11): $17.
• Children under 2: Free.
• Virginia Zoo members: Free admission.

🐕 Dog Participation Requirements (Zoo Rules).
• Each adult may bring one dog only (1 adult : 1 dog ratio).
• A signed waiver must be completed.
• Veterinary records must be submitted.
• Dogs must have up-to-date vaccinations for rabies, distemper/parvo, and bordetella.
• Proof of a negative heartworm test within the past year and heartworm prevention is required.
• Dogs must be leashed and well-behaved at all times.
📍 Meet-Up.
We will meet outside the main zoo entrance at 2:45 PM so we can head in together as a group.

• Arrive on time or a little early to allow time for parking and finding the group.
• If your plans change, please update your RSVP.
