About this Event

We want to make services and care better for people who use alcohol and drugs and also have mental health difficulties. To do this, we need your help.

People need trauma-informed, integrated services where there is ‘no wrong door’ and they are directed to the right support for them.

If you have lived experience of drug and alcohol and mental health services, or you work in these services, please come along to help design a better system for all our service users.

Achieving ‘no wrong door’ services requires the sharing of information and expertise between those commissioning, providing and experiencing services, including mental health and substance use services. The event sessions will focus on:

  • Defining what ‘No Wrong Door’ means in practice
  • Increasing communication between services;
  • Breaking down the barriers;
  • Understanding the current gaps between services e.g. threshold criteria
  • Joining existing and future projects together; and
  • Developing a toolkit/guide that outlines the next steps.

This event is for you if you have lived experience, are the family or friend of a person with lived experience, or if you work in crisis services, Emergency Departments, the Integrated Care Board, the Local Authority, and mental health and substance use commissioning or services.

We think these quotes say it best:

"I thought my partner was going to die while she was 'hot potatoed' between substance misuse and crisis mental health services. Until Pr*son saved her life".

After 5 decades of suffering, an organisation really heard me for the first time and immediately took action, that week, and I was saved”.

I needed someone to really hear me and to pay attention to what was not being said”.

Let’s try and create a service fit for everyone and not everyone to fit the service”.

Arrival from 09.30am, with the first session to start at 10.00am. More details of the sessions will be shared before the event.

Refreshments will be provided, but please bring your own lunch.
