About this Event
New Road is in the heart of the city, with its theatres, cafes and restaurants, bars, and meeting places it is always a bustling, vibrant district. However, its wider geographical area has cultural and historic riches often overlooked when compared to the Royal Pavilion and Theatre Royal. A wide diversity of cultural and religious lives underpins the modern ‘Cultural Quarter.
Geoffrey Mead was born and raised in Brighton, attending Brighton, Hove & Sussex Grammar and later as a mature student, University of Sussex, where he took a PhD in Brighton’s interwar suburban history.
