ფილმები ნაჩვენები იქნება ორიგინალ ენაზე, ქართული და ინგლისური სუბტიტრებით.

CinExpress and the Polish Institute in Tbilisi present a retrospective of the prominent Polish filmmaker Andrzej Wajda, marking the 100th anniversary of his birth.
Screenings will take place on May 27, 28, 29, and 31 in the Blue Hall of the Cinema House (Address: 2 Dzmebi Kakabadzeebi St). Admission is free.
The films will be screened in their original language with Georgian and English subtitles.

27 May, 7 pm — Ashes and Diamonds (1958)
A young academy soldier, Maciek Chelmicki, is ordered to shoot the secretary of the KW PPR. A coincidence causes him to K*ll someone else. Meeting face to face with his victim, he gets a shock. He faces the necessity of repeating the assassination. He meets Krystyna, a girl working as a barmaid in the restaurant of the “Monopol” hotel. His affection for her makes him even more aware of the senselessness of killing at the end of the war. Loyalty to the oath he took, and thus the obligation to obey the order, tips the scales.
28 May, 7 pm — The Promised Land (1975)
In nineteenth-century Łódź, Poland, three friends want to make a lot of money by building and investing in a textile factory. An exceptional portrait of rapid industrial expansion is shown through the eyes of one Polish town.
29 May, 7 pm — Man of Iron (1981)
In Warsaw in 1980, the Communist Party sends disgruntled radio reporter Winkel to Gdańsk to dig up dirt on the shipyard strikers – particularly on Maciek Tomczyk, an independent labour union leader whose father was killed in the December 1970 protests. Posing as sympathetic, Winkel interviews the people surrounding Tomczyk, including his detained wife, Agnieszka.
31 May, 3 pm — Man of Marble (1977)
A young Polish filmmaker sets out to find out what happened to Mateusz Birkut, a bricklayer who became a propaganda hero in the 1950s but later fell out of favor and disappeared.
31 May, 6 pm — Wałesa: Man of Hope (2013)
How was it possible that a single man influenced the contemporary world so significantly? This film is an attempt to capture the phenomenon of a common man’s metamorphosis into a charismatic leader — an attempt to see how a Gdansk shipyard electrician fighting for workers’ rights awakened a hidden desire for freedom in millions of people.
