When society and the state sink into extreme intolerance and instability, a group of unentitled people suddenly emerges. From the contrast between a beautiful, ordinary life and an unexpected future, they bring forward narratives of justice, rights, and humanity. But who are they? The “abandoned” or “ownerless” beings in Bewarish become representatives of all of us.The play Bewarish revolves around the stories of these neglected and marginalized existences. Through the drama, various inconsistencies and contradictions present in our surroundings are brought into focus. It highlights the clash of perspectives regarding moral values, women, art, profession, and social identity.
The unseen realities that remain hidden behind what is visible seem to form the central essence of the play. In particular, issues such as gender discrimination, moral policing, injustice, and murder intensify a series of complex questions throughout the narrative.
Ultimately, the play leaves the audience with one profound question:
“What do the Bewarish actually want?”
