Alexander Galkin, Professor of Neuroscience at the Brain and Mind Research Institute at Weill Cornell Medicine.

Why does what helps us live - to breathe, to move, and to stay active - eventually begin to work against us? We will discuss how mitochondria - the small “engines” of the cell - use oxygen, provide us with energy, and at the same time accelerate aging. We will cover the fundamental principles and key facts behind this process. We will also talk about what modern science already knows about it and where the boundary lies between a long life and the dream of immortality.
