На встрече прозвучат стихи и проза любимых авторов старшего поколения и отрывки из книжек, которые написаны совсем недавно — от Корнея Чуковского и Самуила Маршака до самых современных авторов для детей, Маши Рупасовой и Анастасии Орловой. Все это — в только что опубликованной книге A Hundred Years of Childhood: An Anthology of Russian Writing for Children, 1917-2017.
Ольга Бухина, Келли Херолд и Андреа Лану составили эту антологию детской литературы в переводах с русского на английский. Они почитают с детьми по-русски и по-английски, а со взрослыми обсудят принципы перевода, расскажут, какие произведения вошли в сборник и почему, поговорят о том, что читать детям — по-русски и по-английски.
Приглашаются все, и особенно двуязычные семьи — приходите всей семьей!

We’ll share excerpts from the favorites of the older generation and fresh new books of poetry and prose for children — from Kornei Chukovsky and Samuil Marshak to contemporary authors such as Masha Rupasova and Anastasia Orlova. All of this — from the newly published book, A Hundred Years of Childhood: An Anthology of Russian Writing for Children, 1917-2017.
Three editors of the anthology — Olga Bukhina, Kelly Herold, and Andrea Lanoux — will read with children in both English and Russian and, with adults, talk about translation, explain why they chose these particular texts for the collection, and discuss books to read with children in both languages.
Everyone is welcome to this bilingual event for the entire family.
