About this Event
Real-Life Money Skills for Young Adults (Ages 17–24)
Money decisions start early — and they matter.
Join the City of Aurora Financial Empowerment Center and State Representative Barbara Hernandez for an interactive event designed specifically for young adults who want to build a strong financial future.
Throughout April, young people across Aurora are participating in the $29 to Thrive Challenge, learning simple ways to understand, plan, and grow their money. This event brings everything together with practical tools, real-life strategies, and access to trusted local resources.
You’ll learn how to:
- Manage money in real life (not just in theory)
- Start building credit safely
- Use banks and financial tools with confidence
- Avoid common money mistakes
- Build savings — even on a small income
- Prepare for independence, college, work, or entrepreneurship
What to expect:
✔ Interactive activities (not a lecture)
✔ Real-life scenarios and practical tips
✔ Q&A — bring your questions
✔ Free admission
✔ Prizes and giveaways
You’re welcome to attend even if you didn’t participate in the $29 to Thrive Challenge — all young adults ages 17–24 are invited.
Whether you’re working, in school, job-hunting, or figuring out your next step — this event is designed to help you move forward with confidence.
