Originally the home of Revolutionary War soldier Col. Robert Patterson, founder of Lexington, Ky., this Federal-style house museum tells the story of Daytonโs influential Patterson family. Col. Patterson settled here in 1804, and by the time of his death in 1827, his Rubicon Farm spanned 2,038 acres. Built in three stages between 1816 and 1850, the Homestead became home to three generations of Pattersons, including John H. Patterson, founder of the National Cash Register Co. (NCR). He established NCRโs headquarters just a half-mile northwest of the Homestead on the familyโs original land.
Today, its six period rooms feature 18th and 19th-century antiques alongside Patterson family artifacts. Additional items have been added over the years, and an exhibit gallery highlights NCRโs groundbreaking legacy.
Guided tours run every half hour, last approximately 45 minutes, and require advance reservations.
