Robert H. Burns American Legion Post 16 is requesting support from the community for a fundraiser benefitting homeless veterans & those going through transition .
The 2nd ANNUAL :
“Sleepout for Veterans” FUNdraiser event will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 SHELTER SET UP BEGINS at 1pm - MARKET/RESOURCE FAIR BEGINS AT 10AM
AT 2031 Ronald Reagan Highway. It will benefit Welcome Ministries Community Home (PBAYR Org.) the only homeless /transitional home for veterans in St. Tammany Parish.
The Sleepout for Veterans will be open to the public. It will entail sleeping in tents, shelters, cardboard boxes or other camping arrangements to simulate the plight of homeless veterans. Individuals or groups willing to participate are invited to set up beginning at 1:00pm on November 16 in the field behind Post 16. Donations of blankets, linens (twin), towels, socks, personal care items, toiletries, deodorants, laundry detergent (PODS Preferred), paper towels, toilet paper, utensils, plates, bowls, pots and/or pans, gas cards and/or monetary are requested from the community in recognition of those participating in the sleepout. Sponsorship funds will be used for promoting the event, feeding the sleepout participants and supporting homeless veterans in TRI-Parish Area . Please join local businesses and veteran groups to make this event to help homeless veterans a success.
