A time when the music charts were dominated by guitar bands: Rock and roll bands, Classic rock bands, Punk bands, Indie, Alternative and New Wave bands, Britpop and Grunge bands. A time when audiences waved lit cigarette lighters in the air as bands played slow songs at festivals. A time when MTV played music videos by bands instead of reality TV shows. A time when young people excitedly caught the bus to town on a Saturday afternoon specifically to buy the new album by one of their favourite bands.
This was a time before the music at live shows was supplied by some dude standing behind a table with a Macbook Pro and a USB drive.

It was a time when you owned an actual camera. And a wristwatch. And a torch. A diary. Envelopes and stamps. It was a time before your phone was just another app on your phone.
