💫 Join us for a special parkrun event in honour of National Week of Deaf People!This week-long celebration highlights the vibrant Deaf community and the importance of accessibility and inclusion. 👋 Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing people are ALWAYS welcome at parkrun, but we would like to extend a special invitation to members of the Deaf community to join us during this important week. What to Expect:
👟 Run, Walk, or Volunteer: Just like usual, feel free to run, walk, or volunteer on our beautiful 5km course—whatever suits you best!
✨ Inclusion for All: This parkrun will be fully accessible for all, with a focus on making the event enjoyable and engaging for Deaf and hard-of-hearing participants.
🗣️ Auslan Interpreter: We are excited to have a qualified Auslan interpreter ✨De✨ join us to ensure clear communication and make the event more accessible.
👨💻 Mini Auslan workshops: Learn how to say hello and introduce yourself in Auslan!
ℹ️ Information available: about where you can take local Auslan classes or learn more about Deaf culture.
🎉 Post-Run Gathering: As always, Relish on Main is our official post-parkrun cafe where you can enjoy refreshments, chat with fellow participants, and learn more about National Week of Deaf People.

❓What is National Week of Deaf People?
The National Week of Deaf People (NWDP) is a week-long national celebration of Deaf individuals and the Australian Deaf community, which includes celebrating the International Week of Deaf People (IWDP) and International Day of Sign Languages (IDSL) which are initiatives of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD).
It is also an opportunity for organisations involved with or wishing to be involved with the Deaf Community to build and maintain relationships with Deaf people and be recognised as an ally to the Deaf community.
In 2024, National Week of Deaf People is 23-29th September.
