About this Event
❤️Is Love Just a Feeling?
Last month, we had an amazing discussion around the question: “What is love?”There was so much to explore that we’re continuing the conversation this month with a new question:
Where does love really come from?
We'll unpack two major views:
- Love as brain chemistry --> the neuroscience behind desire, bonding, and attraction
- Love as a social construct --> how culture, media, and modern values shape what we think love should be
And discuss how our views on the origin of love shape and affect our day to day life.
IQ Cafe is a space for thoughtful discussion regardless of your personal beliefs. Everyone is welcome!
🕒 Schedule:
8:00-8:20 - Listen to a bilingual lecture on the night's topic while enjoying snacks and coffee
8:20-9:00 - Discussion in small groups
Afterwards - Stick around and hang out with new friends!

What is IQ Cafe?
IQ Cafe is a place that wants to create a space for you to think deeply.We think it's a shame how many people go through life without reflecting on things that matter. It’s important to take the time to think about the difficult questions in life. It can be easy to live your life and just go through the motions.
The presentations at IQ Cafe are always bilingual because we want you to be able to practice Japanese and English! For the discussion time, there are tables with English and Japanese available. Let's practice language together!

先月、IQ Cafeでは「愛とは何か？」というテーマで素晴らしいディスカッションができました。話し足りないほど深いテーマだったので、今月も引き続きこの話題を掘り下げていきます。
今回の問いは：愛はどこから来るのか？
今回は、2つの主要な視点からこのテーマを探っていきます。脳内化学としての愛→ 欲求や絆、惹かれ合う感情に関わる神経科学の視点社会的構造としての愛→ 文化やメディア、現代の価値観が「愛とは何か」をどう形づくっているのか
そして、私たちが「愛の起源」についてどのように考えるかが、日常の人間関係や人生の選択にどう影響するのかも一緒に考えてみましょう。
IQ Cafeは、信仰の有無に関係なく、誰でも安心して参加できるディスカッションの場です。
