Charity Tea Ceremony to Support Restoration of the Noto Peninsula Region
About this Event

This is an annual spring tea ceremony hosted by Omotesenke Eastern Region Domonkai, and the members of NY/Met region will present thin tea and sweets under the theme of "Cherry Blossoms," using some utensils related to the Noto Peninsula.

As you know, the Noto region was severely damaged by an earthquake that struck on January 1, 2024. The region is home to a variety of traditional crafts, including Wajima lacquerware and Kutani ware, which are inseparable from the tea ceremony. In order to support the restoration of the culture and technology of the region, all proceeds from tickets to the tea ceremony will be matched by the Eastern Region Domonkai and sent to those affected by the disaster.

We hope that this event will be a time to reflect on the disaster area while appreciating the beauty of cherry blossoms, a symbol of friendship between the United States and Japan. We hope you will join us for this tea ceremony. In addition to enjoying the tea ceremony you will have the opportunity to make your own bowl of tea in the Omotosenke tradition.

In the event you are not able to come this time, we would like to ask you to support our efforts in the rebuilding of the Noto region by making a donation.
