Benny Golson's "Whisper Not"
週六我們繼續來聽聽看，
薩克斯風手暨作曲家的Benny Golson的作品。
這週帶來Benny早期的一首經典大師之作"Whisper Not"
像是上週介紹過的“Stablemates" ，
"Whisper Not" 是他在與Dizzy Gillespie，於1956年一起巡演時，
在波士頓的一家爵士酒吧所寫下，
當時他只花了20分鐘的時間將這大師之作完成。
在這首作品問世近半世紀後，
Benny的音樂生涯晚年，
策劃了一趟以此首曲子為名的巡迴演出-"The Whisper Not Tour“。
Benny的作品，簡樸具有深度，
與古典音樂中，巴洛克時期的音樂有異曲同工之處。

Saturday 1/16 Benny Golson's "Whisper Not"
This Saturday at Theater Trattoria, Matt Fullen's Stage Right Band will continue with their celebration of the birthday of saxophonist and composer Benny Golson by featuring one of his earlier masterpieces, "Whisper Not." Like his "Stablemates," "Whisper Not" was also written at a Boston jazz club, this time while traveling with Dizzy Gillespie. Nearly a half century after he wrote the song in 1956, Golson launched a tour late in life called "The Whisper Not Tour" and recalled that he had written the tune in 20 minutes. Please join us for the austerely Baroque compositional style of Benny Golson, jazz standards, and the original music of Matt Fullen at Theater Trattoria, the most comfortably swinging Saturday night in Taipei!
