Introduction

This session forms part of Menopause Awareness Month and continues our work on women’s health, expanding the discussion to include students, colleagues and our alumni community. The event features Emma Neville as our keynote speaker.

Event Information

October is Menopause Awareness Month, with World Menopause Day being held on Friday 18 October. By taking part in Menopause Awareness Month, we aim to break taboo and improve women’s health and wellbeing by raising awareness about the symptoms of menopause and the support options available.

To celebrate this year, we’re especially excited to be welcoming menopause coach Emma Neville to the University of Salford where she’ll share her extensive knowledge of the menopause and will lead a discussion – Let’s Pause and Talk Menopause – alongside members from our alumni community, and a University Leadership Team host.

Please arrive at 13:30 in time for a 14:00 start. There will be refreshments served and chance for networking during the first half hour.

Emma Neville - biography

Emma Neville is a mum to two teenage girls, person centered counsellor, philanthropist volunteering for numerous charities, and qualified menopause coach.

Emma experienced early menopause aged 40, being diagnosed with premature ovarian insufficiency (POI). The average age of menopause in the UK is 51. Receiving this diagnosis encouraged Emma to research the topic, understand the phases of menopause, and inspired her to study to become a menopause coach.

Emma started an online community - This Is Me - to share her story and to encourage everyone to talk about menopause and re-create the rhetoric ‘let’s be the generation to make menopause matter’. Emma also has a personal family connection to UoS as her husband Gary is an honorary graduate.
