A 2024 Polish film with English subtitles about the Battle of Monte Cassino. A story of a spectacular battle seen through the eyes of Jedrek, a Russian ex-gulag orphan who joined the Polish army. The battle led to the end of WWII, but resulted in the deaths of many Polish and British soldiers. The lives of many who survived, like Jedrek, were changed forever. Please come along if you can, to learn more about this significant part of history and to honour those who fought so bravely. Doors open at 6.15 to give the opportunity to buy drinks from the bar, sample some delicious Polish cakes (included in the ticket price), view a small exhibition and chat to members of the Leek Polish Connection group, many of whom are the children of the soldiers who fought in this battle. The film will start at 7pm and lasts for 122 minutes. Tickets are £5 and can be bought in advance from the Foxlowe Cafe or online through this link:
