Navigating the risks and rewards, for brands engaging in culture
About this Event

What do we mean by ‘Culture?’ Join us on Wednesday 24th April as we attempt to unpack and discuss this complex topic.

We have rallied a lineup of experts who understand the cultural landscape and how to play in it including Louise McSharry, Dave B, Thinkhouse and Jessica Lynn, Irish Distillers. We have enlisted the help of Chloe Hanratty, a seasoned brand strategist to moderate and stimulate conversation.

The event will showcase a discussion primarily focusing on “cultural strategy” as a key business driver and how engaging with culture should be navigated by brands today.

About Our Panel

Louise McSharry is a broadcaster and writer from Dublin. Her memoir Fat Chance: My Life In Ups, Downs and Crisp Sandwiches was published by Penguin Ireland. Louise hosts a weekly podcast “Catch Up with Lousie McSharry”, which aims to catch people up on news and culture, offer recommendations for music, television and other arts forms, and also features short interviews with relevant or interesting people.

Jessica Lynn, is a Marketing Director with 22+ years’ experience currently leading a talented and diverse Spirits & Wine marketing team for Irish Distillers (in the Irish market). Drawing from Absolut's rich history in both clubbing culture and its alliance with the LGBTQ+ community, she brings valuable insights on how to authentically resonate with Irish and global cultures.

Dave Byrne of Thinkhouse is currently Head of Creative Studio where he built and continues to lead the in-house creative team, delivering global best-in-class, culturally connected campaigns. Over the last 12 years, Dave has developed creative and culture-led campaigns for brands like Heineken Ireland, Netflix, Unilever, Lucozade, Absolut, eFlow, Barry’s Tea and Musgrave. It is his instinctive understanding of modern entertainment culture that gives him the edge to lead creative work that resonates with a contemporary audience. True to his belief that to work in the youth culture space, you have to live and genuinely care about it, Dave runs a multitude of club nights and continues to DJ around the world.
