CANYONS:Based in Northamptonshire, England, Stevie Ward (vocals & guitar) and Ed Mander (bass) have made music together since the early days of grunge.��The current incarnation of Canyons hits somewhere between Americana and jangly folk-rock. Anglicana seems a fitting moniker. Influenced by many artists, other people have made comparisons to Wilco, REM and the Band. We’ll take that.
Joined now by three multi-instrumentalists. With a vast amount of experience between these players, the palette of Canyons sound is now richer and more sophisticated. ��Mark Stevens (Marc Almond, Alvin Stardust, Little Johnny England, TradArr, the Sandy Denny project) is the bands producer. Mark plays drums, keys, brass. ��Guy Fletcher (Little Johnny England, TradArr, Cave) brings lead guitar, violin and mandolin. ��Rich Young (King creosote, Adrian Smith, Nigel Kennedy, Steve Marriott) plays keys, acoustic guitar and harmonica.
This Canyons line up began gigging in earnest at the beginning of this year (2025)
So far, shows have been in Northants and received well. Currently working towards a number of small festival appearances for next year. ��All members are also on vocal duties.
Garage Palace is a collection of songs covering the subject matters of lost childhood ambitions, undertaking, insurrection, the joy of solitude, and ritual murder! It was all recorded in our own studio using our collection of vintage mics, amps and instruments.
Currently, 2026 plans include a Sunday evening spot at Ely folk festival and a mini French tour.
