About this Event
‘A place for us’ Latin-Americans in Scotland: Migration, Representation, Visibility and Mental Health is a film screening event featuring the short documentary directed by Estefany Correia, answering the questions "Are We Really Here? Do we belong?".
This event involves informal discussions on vital topics such as identity, belonging, in/migration, in/visibility, cultural appropriation and how arts and community can improve our mental wellbeing. Having a safe to heard, to belong and be visible.
Film screening followed by a moderated and informal conversation within participants to delve deeper into how these themes impact not only Latin Americans but also minority groups or an invisible community living in Scotland. This dialogue aims to foster a deeper understanding and empathy among the attendees aiming to reach more audiences in Scotland to be visible and foster the feeling of belonging.
Culminating with a restorative dance & storytelling workshop providing a moment of reflexion and relaxation led by dance artist and performer Nancy Jacinto, director of Latino Dance Project.
