Imagine an empty canvas. How would you start? A few dots here and there? Barely touching the surface? Maybe adding a strong dark line with a quick movement? Oh, and I forgot to tell you that this canvas is actually in 4D - including the space we are in at the moment and every movement, sound or other expressions of time.Composer/dancer/improviser Ernő Z. Rubik invites you on a space-time journey where gravity is the attention of the audience and the fuel of your starship is your curiosity itself. Through playful and simple etudes, Rubik’s aim is to create a safe environment for practicing instant composition in a fun and self-aware manner. As a musician/composer he is bringing his experiences of the music world including tematic structures, open from pieces and graphic scores to support clear decisions on the fly.
“Think about being crazy as a texture that you include for ten seconds in the space. Then a few seconds rest. Then a repetition of a small detail from 2 minutes ago. – Being practical about decisions, separating actions from meaning helps people get into the playful attitude, leaving judgements behind. Finding their inherent power of being present!”
“The key is that nothing has to happen. Letting yourself to be seen is already such a big gift. Anything that happens on top of that is just extra.”
All movers, sound makers or object manipulators are welcome who would like to practice instant composition in ‘4D’.
