Bonn Pchum Ben:
Cambodians deeply revere their parents, grandparents and ancestors. Each year in early fall (holiday can fall at the end of September or early October) Cambodians celebrate Bonn Pchum Ben to honor their deceased ancestors. It is a 15 Day celebration.
The first 14 days of the celebration are called 'Kan Ben'. During these days, Cambodians would prepare/offer food for the monks and visitors of the temple. It is also believed that the spirits of the deceased visit pagodas during this time to accept the offerings made by their families
This festival reminds Cambodians to honor their ancestors who have passed away.
