શિવાલયનું શિખર, પ્રથમ પ્રભાતનો પ્રકાશ.

Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this ancient temple complex stands as a beacon of faith and the perfect spiritual anchor for our journey. It has long been a silent witness to the city's awakening moments and serves as the starting point for seeking stories etched in stone.

2️⃣ Kavi Akha Bhagat Chowk

Time: 7:15 AM - 7:45 AM

અખાનો ચોક, જ્ઞાનની ગુંજ, શબ્દોની સરવાણી,

રૂઢિને ભેદી, કવિએ માંડી જ્યોત જ્ઞાનની.

This square honors the great 17th-century philosopher-poet Akha Bhagat. Akho, a goldsmith by trade, was celebrated for his fierce and witty verses (Chhappas) that challenged societal dogma. The space embodies the city’s intellectual heritage, reminding us that heritage is as much about ideas as it is about architecture.

3️⃣ Jethabhai Ni Haveli: Vaarso

હવેલીની છાતીમાં રમકડાંની દુનિયા સજી,

વારસાની વાત, નિર્દોષતાની કથા અહીં રચી.

This beautiful Haveli is home to Vaarso, a museum dedicated to preserving India’s toy heritage and traditional games. It beautifully connects a grand historical structure with the personal, cultural stories of childhood-reminding us that heritage also lives in the playful traditions we carry forward.

4️⃣ Deewanji Ni Haveli

બારીઓ ખોલી વાત કરે છે લાકડાની કોતરણી,

ભૂતકાળની ભવ્યતા, દિવાનજીની વારસાગાથાની.

A stunning example of Ahmedabad’s famed wooden residential architecture, this Haveli (mansion) showcases intricate carvings and multi-layered facades. It is a time capsule of Pol life, offering a glimpse into the community, craftsmanship, and domestic intimacy that formed the core of the walled city.

5️⃣ Ramnath Mahadev Temple

Time: 8:45 AM - 9:00 AM

ભોંયરામાં ભોલેનાથ, શાંતિનો સૂર સચવાયો,

ઉંડાણનું શિવાલય, જ્યાં ઇતિહાસે વિશ્રામ લીધો.

This unique and ancient underground Shiva shrine descends below the surface, offering a profound sense of calm and detachment from the bustling city above. It speaks to the deep-rooted spiritual practices and the hidden layers of history within the Pols.

6️⃣ Nagji Bhudarji Ni Pol

પોળની ગલીમાં જીવનની ધબક, આંગણામાં કથા અનોખી.

This particular Pol (traditional gated neighborhood) represents the dense, communal urban planning of the Walled City. Exploring its narrow lanes, common wells, and chabutaras allows us to experience the living heritage of Ahmedabad’s resilient community life and vernacular architecture.

7️⃣ Shree Pipleshwar Mahadev Temple (Conversation Location)

Time: 9:20 AM - 9:50 AM

પગલાં પૂરાં, વાર્તાનો સમય, પીપળાની શીતળ છાયા,

સૌનો સંવાદ, શહેર માટેનો સંકલ્પ, સૌનો સાથ.

Here, the walk concludes, and the વારસાની વાર્તા (Story of Heritage) conversation begins. We gather in this peaceful space to share our personal city narratives, reflect on the heritage we witnessed, and collectively discuss how we can contribute to preserving and enriching Ahmedabad’s future legacy.

8️⃣ Jama Masjid

Time: 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM

ઇતિહાસનું નૂર, સ્તંભોનું મૌન સંગીત.

Built by the city’s founder, Sultan Ahmed Shah, in 1424, the Jama Masjid is a masterpiece of Indo-Saracenic architecture. Its vast courtyard, magnificent sandstone, and hundreds of carved pillars serve as a grand, final symbol of the ideals upon which Ahmedabad was founded.
