En 1918, Ibrahim Mitri Rahbani a écrit son quatrième livre en anglais sous le titre "America Saving the Near East" (L'Amérique sauvant le Proche-Orient). Ce bref ouvrage de neuf chapitres, dont la partie centrale ne dépasse pas cent soixante pages, peut être considéré comme un chef-d'œuvre dans l'art du lobbying et comme un programme d'action politique intégré pour la patrie syrienne après la Première Guerre mondiale.
Qui est Ibrahim Mitra Rahbani, qu'est-ce qui l'a poussé à écrire ce livre, pour qui l'a-t-il écrit, quel en a été le résultat, et pouvons-nous, un siècle et quelques années après sa rédaction, bénéficier de sa vision ? In 1918, Ibrahim Mitri Rahbani wrote his fourth book in English under the title "America Saving the Near East." This brief book of nine chapters, not exceeding one hundred and sixty pages of the middle section, can be considered a masterpiece in the art of lobbying and an integrated political action program for the Syrian homeland after the First World War.
Who is Ibrahim Mitra Rahbani, what prompted him to write this book, who did he write it for, what was the result, and can we, a century and a few years after his writing, benefit from his vision? These and other questions will be answered by researcher Osama Ajaj al-Muhtar, who has translated two of Rahbani's books, "The Syrian Messiah" and "The Five Translations of Jesus," in addition to putting together a translation of the book.
