Az MTA Közgazdaságtudományi Bizottsága könyvbemutatója az Új korszak Európában: kihívások című könyvről

A könyvbemutatót Győrffy Dóra, az MTA KTB elnöke vezeti fel, majd a kötet néhány szerzője foglalja össze a főbb megállapításokat. Ezt követően Csaba László akadémikus és Benczes István egyetemi tanár elemzi a tanulmányokat és beszél az Európai Unió előtt álló új kihívásokról.

A könyvről:

A New Era for Europe: Emerging Challenges (szerkesztő: Marco Ratto és Székely P. István, kiadó: Európai Unió Kiadója) egy Paolo Gentiloni, az Európai Unió Gazdasági Biztosa által 2021-ben elindított projekt keretében készült kötet, amelynek célja az új gazdasági és társadalmi trendek, valamint az ebből fakadó gazdaságpolitikai kihívások azonosítása a Covid-19 világjárványt követő időszakban. A kötet vezető európai kutatók írásait tartalmazza e témakörben.

A fejezetek a kihívások egy széles körét tárgyalják, igy foglalkoznak a zöld átállást, a vállalati viselkedést, az innováció finanszírozását, az Európai Unióba vetett bizalom, az államháztartás minőségét és az állam reagálóképességét érintő problémákkal. A kötet célja, hogy jobban megértsük a kihívások természetét és azokat a tényezőket, amelyek alakítják és néha korlátozzák a lehetséges gazdaságpolitikai válaszokat.

Bár az írások többsége még azelőtt elkészült, hogy Oroszország 2022-ben háborút indított Ukrajnával szemben, néhány fejezet előzetes gondolatokat is kínál arról, hogy a háború és az Európai Unió Oroszországról való gazdasági leválása hogyan módosíthatja az európai döntéshozók előtt álló kihívásokat.

A New Era for Europe: Emerging Challenges – book launching seminar

The Committee for Economics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences will organise a joint book launch on Friday, 2 June 2023, at 14:30 on the book New Era for Europe: Emerging Challenges.

The book launch will be introduced by Dóra Győrffy, Chair of the Committee for Economics, followed by a summary of the main findings by some of the authors of the book. Professor László Csaba and Professor István Benczes will then analyse the studies and discuss the new challenges facing the European Union.

About the book:

A New Era for Europe: Emerging Challenges (edited by Marco Ratto and István P. Székely, published by the Publication Office of the European Union) is a volume that emerges from a project launched by Commissioner for Economy Paolo Gentiloni in 2021 to help identify new economic and social trends and policy challenges stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic.

The volume contains the contributions of leading European researchers on the main challenges identified in this project, including green transition, corporate behaviour, innovation finance, trust in the European Union, quality of public finance, and the capacity of the state to react to the new challenges. The contributions aim to improve our understanding of the nature of the challenges and the factors that shape and sometimes constrain possible policy responses.

While most of the contributions were finished before Russia waged war on Ukraine in 2022, some of the chapters offers some preliminary thoughts on how the war and the subsequent decoupling of the European Union from Russia are likely to modify the challenges European policymakers face.
