HYMN / Mia Maria Robsahm
Hymn is a video installation made of virtual and physical readymades, in addition to 3D-modeling programs. It attempts to take a glance at something - someone that embody both toxicity and loneliness, something that it’s hard to take a stand on. Is it sad, is it pathetic and also perhaps quite dangerous?

MIA MARIA ROBSAHM
is an artist artisting. When she is not doing that she is reading “Art & Fear” by two white cis males, and taking a MFA at KMD.

DADDY / Kai Solbakken, Kjell Korsmo and Mario de la Ossa
DADDY explores the impact of father and son dynamics; how the three artists in this show relate to these men from different generations, of different values, the 20th century men. The title DADDY, at first glance, connotes ideas of our modern relationship to broken fatherhood and how popular culture ties one’s relation to the father into a Freudian interdependence, but we have moved on from our understanding of psychoanalysis and these tropes. The title can nonetheless help to guide us through different points of understanding.
Our direct connection to our fathers vary and come to life in different aspects, like Kais’ dreamlike paintings of interiors of vehicles, reminiscent of his long trips in the back of semi trailers with his step father. This collaboration shines light on issues of parenthood, the unity of the family and conditions for upbringing. In Kjells’ photographs we are met with his childhood home and portraits such as his father’s chest: the man in his strong pose, hands on hips and chest forward. These issues of fatherhood are not limited to our Norwegian borders, maybe not even to the western world. In Marios’ investigation of his father in Costa Rica we travel across the Atlantic, into the jungle, to a different culture, where the same topic appears through a different lens.

KAI SOLBAKKEN (b. 1995)
is a Norwegian artist currently finishing his BFA at KMD, University of Bergen. His work primarily consists of paintings based on photographic reference, dealing with subjects of adolescence and upbringing, abandonment and the search for belonging. The images are built up by layers of thinned out oil paint mixed with charcoal, in a combination of glazing applications and washes.
KJELL KORSMO (b.2000)
is a photographer and artist, currently in his last year of the bachelors programme at the art academy in Bergen. Through images of the vernacular, he explores questions of chance, imperfection, repetition, and quantity.
MARIO DE LA OSSA
is a Norwegian/Costa Rican photographer and artist currently pursuing a BFA at the art academy in Bergen, Norway. Woven into different visual narratives his work examines family relations, photographies ambivalent nature and its relation to reality, as well as the western production of cultural tropes.
