Join local instructors Nate and Dani for a 2 hour workshop diving into two fundamental techniques for comfortable and responsive zouk dancing: elasticity and conservation of momentum."Elasticity," which we define as gradually building resistance/muscle tension with our body as we move towards or away from our partners, is crucial for comfortably preparing movements and redirecting the follow's movement.
"Conservation of momentum," or continuing a movement with the same speed and direction until led to stop, is what allows us to create elasticity. Further, it allows for more clarity in what is being led, and more responsiveness from the followers, all while making the dance feel more comfortable.
Combined, these two techniques work together to enable the lead and follow to have the "ooey gooey"/springy look and feel that zouk is known for.
Come nerd out with us to learn how to apply these two techniques to add smoothness and springiness to your zouk dancing.
