About this Event
Zoo School is led by one of our zoo educators in the zoo classroom.
- 45–60-minutes in the zoo classroom, followed by your own time spent on the zoo trails if you wish (be sure to schedule extra time in your transportation plan).
- Standards-based lessons that create a connection between your curriculum and the wildlife of the Alaska Zoo.
Grade Levels: K-6th
Rate: $17 per student. For every 5 students, we will admit one adult free. Additional adults are $12 each.
Days and Times: Available Wednesdays–Fridays, choose 10:15am or 12:15pm
Age Restrictions: Only participants in grades specified, teachers and chaperones are allowed to attend. No younger siblings are allowed.
Zoo School Options for K-2nd: Celebrating Polar Bears, Home Sweet Habitat, Animal Needs, Amazing Adaptations, Zoo Clues, Spooky Skeletons (October only), Amazing Antlers (December 1-16 only). All options for K-2nd include zoo staff reading to students, a lesson and an activity.
Zoo School Options for 3rd-6th: Watersheds Everywhere!, Snow Cat Conservation, Arctic Ecosystems, Polar Bears and Climate Change, Bird Beak Buffet, Creepy Creatures (October only), Chilly Champs (December 1-16 only). All options for 3rd-6th include a lesson and activity.
Important Notes:
- Make your reservation online at least 2 weeks in advance.
- Your confirmation email will include a Teacher Checklist, Animal List, SGS packets, Map, and Admissions Form.
- Minimum group size 10, maximum 40 (including chaperones and students).
- Pay at the gate with a credit card, check or cash. Have one organized form of payment and a completed admissions form with you upon arrival. This form will be emailed to you after your registration is complete.
- Select the invoicing option. You will need the corresponding admissions form and will tally your numbers before you reach the gate. Once turned in at admissions, an invoice will be sent to your school with ASD accounting copied and payment will be due upon receipt by your administor.
- NO REFUNDS will be given for missing students.
- Groups must 15 minutes prior to their Zoo School reservation to finalize payment.
- You must have a ratio of 1 adult to 5 students for your safety at the zoo.
