Indie rock bands Zoo Front and Faculty Lounge share the bill at Best Video Film & Cultural Center on Sat., Nov. 16. The show starts at 7 PM and the cover is $10.Zoo Front is a sonically eclectic original band always striving to evolve their sound. Each member brings their own somewhat divergent influences to the group, where ideas and genres are meshed and massaged to form a cohesive body of work. Last year’s “Re-Entry” album was a collection of songs taking listeners on a ride through a variety of musical styles and moods. Anyone who has witnessed a Zoo Front gig has been along for that ride, taking in a mix of new and old, soft and sultry, moody and energetic songs. A new batch of music is under development and promises to take the band and audience into uncharted territory.
Zoo Front is Ed Ekendu, Ju Dee Luna, Nancy Tatsapaugh, and Lisa Tonner. You can find Zoo Front on Bandcamp, SoundCloud, iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Music, You Tube Music, Apple Music and other streaming services.
Rob Irwin (vocals, guitar, harmonica), John Holland (guitar), and Lisa Tonner (drums) met in 2022 when they were randomly selected to perform together at the Rock Lottery. Their band, Recreational Liars, won the competition and went on to pursue a brief but illustrious career. The three wanted to continue making music together, so with the addition of Joe Freer (bass) and Dustin Kreidler (guitar, saxophone) the lineup was complete. They describe themselves as blues punk, playing a variety of weird originals and a few fun covers. Faculty Lounge has appeared at the Cellar and at the Stratford Apple Festival.
