Last week we were delighted with the Annual Quiz Night where we raised over $2400.00 for the HIPPY programme. Part of the Great Potentials Foundation, HIPPY was introduced to New Zealand in 1992. Over 30,000 children have benefitted since HIPPY was established in New Zealand 30 years ago. HIPPY is now available in 28 communities across New Zealand. We are even more delighted that our Guest speaker for our October meeting at the Howick Club on 7th October will be Dame Lesley Max, the founder of Great Potentials which began life as the Pacific Foundation back in 1990 with award-winning journalist, Gordon Dryden.
Dame Lesley was made a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit, also for services to children, in the 2010 New Year Honours.
As recently as 2022, Great Potentials Foundation signed a government contract to run a new "Whanau In-Home Learning Programme" for 2-5-year-olds in 22 areas across New Zealand, from the Far North to Timaru.
What a wonderful legacy to leave for our community. What an amazing difference for women and girls.
Visitors are welcome. We meet from 6.00.p.m. before dinner at 6.30.p.m.
