About this Event

Feeling stressed? Burnt out? Dreaming of life beyond work?

Join us for a unique zine workshop and exhibition designed to help you reflect on your relationship with work, well-being, and creativity.
Step into a world of thought-provoking zines created by researchers, exploring themes like overcoming burnout, navigating stress, and finding joy and identity both in and outside of work.
After immersing yourself in the exhibition, unleash your own creativity in our interactive zine workshop. Here, you’ll have the chance to design your own zine, exploring your personal experiences and imagining what 'life after work' means to you.
This event is open to everyone 16+ and is all about fostering deep self-expression and connection. Let’s come together to reshape the narrative of work and life through art!

This event is free for all attendees thanks to funding from the ESRC as part of the Festival of Social Science 2025.

What to expect from the workshops:

Each interactive workshop will last one hour, during which you will learn how to make a zine. You'll have the opportunity to reflect on your own working life, and how you might use a zine to share your thoughts and reflections. You will also have the opportunity to make a zine as a response to the zines you encountered in the exhibition.

We will provide all of the materials you'll need to make your zines, but if there is anything in particular you would like to include, please bring it along or send it to the facilitators ahead of the workshop and we can have this printed and ready for you!

In addition to supplying the art and craft materials, we will also be able to provide (optional) guidance on zine-making, as well as reflective and creative prompts to help you get started.

Please choose only one of the two zine workshops to attend - you don't need to attend both!
