About this Event
Join us for an extraordinary evening with internationally celebrated artist Zhengyao Zuo, in conversation about the Veiled Resonance between traditional techniques and contemporary subject matter. This is a rare opportunity to learn directly from one of the most influential living figures in Chinese art today.
Zuo’s mastery across porcelain, ink, and watercolor is rooted in both spiritual inquiry and artistic lineage. Deeply inspired by the Diamond Sutra, a foundational Chan Buddhist text exploring emptiness, impermanence, and the illusion of self. Zuo’s practice bridges sacred philosophy and contemporary form. His work speaks through silence, texture, and gesture, offering meditative encounters with both material and meaning.
Topics will include:
- The influence of Diamond Sutra philosophy in Zuo’s visual language
- Stories from his decade-long porcelain training in Jingdezhen
- His global impact on the contemporary Chinese art market
- The relevance of traditional methods in modern cultural contexts
Guests are invited to arrive at 6:00 PM for a private viewing of Veiled Resonance.
The artist talk will begin promptly at 7:00 PM.
