Let's save a few bucks and reduce waste at the same time by sharing re-giftable gently used items from our homes that others could use as holiday gifts.Cost: FREE
Who: Everyone and anyone! Share this event wherever you like.
Where: Highland Park Library, St. Paul, 1st floor meeting room
When: Saturday, Dec. 14, 2:00-4:00 (there's a holiday event happening at the Community Center that day, so you can enjoy other activities as well)
How to participate:
* (If you can . . . ) BRING gently used or unused, clean, smallish trinkets, toys or other giftable items. (it's ok if you don't have any to bring! come anyway - there will be plenty to take!)
* TAKE some of these items with you to use in your holiday festivities or however you want!
More details below!
* No obligation to bring in order to take, or to take if you bring.
*****PLEASE do not get all Minnesota shy about taking more than you bring! If you have a use for these items, PLEASE take them!***** I'd be overjoyed not to have to do anything with leftovers at the end. A teacher who needs to stock a treasure box? Yes please! Planning ahead to Valentine's Day or Easter or a birthday? Please take what you can use!
* If you contribute items, you will not get them back. At the end, the individuals cleaning up will decide what to do with any surplus items, and will do their best to do so in a zero waste fashion. If you'd like to be part of this, simply be present at 4:00!
* If contributing, please plan to set up your contributions. It worked well last year to set up items in categories (toys, toiletries, jewelry, etc.) Contributors can set up starting 1:45.
* Contributions of gift bags, paper bags or plastic bags would be extremely welcome for the "shoppers" to take home their treasures.
* Kids are welcome to "shop" for gifts for others. The room is glassed in, so you could keep an eye on them as they select gifts, and the title of this event was very especially chosen to not blow the whistle on a certain fat man in a red suit and his relationship to Xmas stockings.
* If you can stick around for a few minutes after 4:00 to help clean up, or if you have a destination for surplus items (for example, my kids' school has a carnival and they use gently used prizes, but I can't store all the surplus until then - but maybe you have a similar need?)
* If I forgot something, plunk it in comments!
