Refresh your crochet skills and learn how to transform scrap yarns (and t-shirts!) into useful and beautiful baskets and bags of all sizes.Ticket price: £25
Join us for a creative afternoon where you'll learn how create baskets and bags of all colours, textures, shapes and sizes... limited only by your imagination! During the afternoon you will be guided step by step to create either a small bag or a small basket from lefttover yarn, string, ribbon - even old t-shirt fabric!
This relaxed pace, small group workshop is designed for people who are already comfortable holding a crochet hook and yarn and have a grasp of the basic single, double and treble crochet stitches. It will also suit anyone looking for a refresher. You will leave feeling inspired, with the confidence to make more crochet projects at home.
What will you learn?
• a reminder of the single, double and treble crochet stitches
• how to construct a simple crochet basket
• how to construct a simple crochet bag
• how to turn old t-shirts into yarn for crochet projects
• how to adjust the shape and size of your crochet projects
We will provide:
• crochet hooks
• a selection of natural yarns (Simply Repair avoids plastics in all forms).
• guided step-by-step instruction
• written and pictorial patterns for simple crochet baskets and bags
• organic, Fairtrade hot drinks and palm oil-free biscuits.
What to bring
• A crochet hook between size 3.5 and 7 if you have it. If you don’t, we have plenty to share!
• Any odd balls of cotton or other natural fibre yarns, twine, raffia or string for your baskets.
• 2-3 old t-shirts (adult size) if you'd like to have a go at making your own t-shirt yarn.
Your host for this small group workshop is Anne Nichols. Anne is an experienced and creative crocheter with bags of enthusiasm for sharing her skills with learners of all ages and abilities. She has lots of patience and will make sure you gain a good working knowledge of basic crochet stitches and 3D techniques – in a friendly and supportive environment.
Being accessible and inclusive to everyone is important to us at Simply Repair. If you want to join us on any of the workshops but financial circumstances prevent this, please get in touch at [email protected] so we can help. All requests are confidential, and we offer a no questions asked policy. We will do our best to accommodate but, in the event where the workshop is already full, we can discuss future options.
