Zephyranthes is a futuristic rock trio that melds psychedelic, progressive, and math rock sensibilities together with a sense of modern aesthetics and accessibility. The Raleigh-based trio is celebrating their 10 year anniversary with a new record, Zephyranthes IV. In typical fashion, the record encapsulates the group’s dynamic extremes by exploring lush modern indie rock, post-hardcore intensity, and even Alice Coltrane-esque soundscapes.American Indian guitarist Elijah Melanson formed the band following the sudden loss of a parent and of a rising career that saw highs of international touring, festivals, and late night show performances with progressive rock band Helicopria. Ripe with grief and eager for transformation, Zephyranthes was formed in 2015 to explore the dichotomies of his aesthetic roots; The experimental and the mainstream. With additions of drummer Alex Jolly (JULIA., Solar Bear) and multi-instrumentalist Logan Maxwell (Vacant Company, Tumbao) the group has come together to breathe organic new sounds into an aging prog rock aesthetic.
