[Français plus bas - ภาษาไทยด้านล่าง]The Embassy of Switzerland presents Zeitgeist, an exhibition of works by Swiss artist Michel Misho, displaying two distinct yet interconnected series of his diverse practice. Misho relocated to Thailand in early 2020 to escape the worsening coronavirus threat in San Francisco, where he was based since 2009.
Produced in Thailand over the past year, In Exile is Misho’s new series of abstract paintings that reflect the oscillating feelings of hope and despair that have characterized this period. “There is a lot of tension within them, a fight to find harmony,” writes Misho, visible in the dark crosshatched brushwork with vivid moments of color.
Misho’s practice is often grounded in his connection to the natural environment. Concerns over climate change come to the fore in the photographic series Imaginary Landscapes, where Misho pictures scenes of an alternate reality, or perhaps a vision of the future. Whether the trees in his creations are monuments to the past or symbols of rebirth, Misho leaves up to the viewer.
Alongside each other, these artworks from Misho’s In Exile and Imaginary Landscapes series form a vision of the artist’s inner world while drawing on a shared experience of the present and alluding to a collective future.

สถานเอกอัครราชทูตสวิตเซอร์แลนด์ประจำประเทศไทย นำเสนอ ไซทไกสต์ (Zeitgeist) ซึ่งเป็นนิทรรศการที่จัดทำโดยศิลปินชาวสวิส มิเชล มิโช เพื่อสองชุดภาพศิลปะที่แสดงให้เห็นสไตล์ในการทำงานศิลปะของเขาที่ต่างกันอย่างสิ้นเชิง หากแต่ยังมีความเชื่อมโยงซึ่งกันและกัน มิโชได้ย้ายถิ่นฐานมาอยู่ที่ประเทศไทยในต้นปี 2563 เพื่อที่จะหลุดพ้นจากสถานการณ์การแพร่ระบาดของโคโรน่าไวรัสที่ค่อนข้างหนักหน่วงอยู่ที่เมืองซานฟรานซิสโก ซึ่งเป็นที่ที่เค้าอยู่มาตั้งแต่ปี 2552
ผลงานชุด พลัดถิ่น (In Exile) เป็นงานที่ผลิตระหว่างอยู่ในประเทศไทยเมื่อปีที่ผ่านมา เป็นผลงานภาพแอบสแตร็คซึ่งสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงความรู้สึกมีความหวังและสิ้นหวัง อันเป็นลักษณะของสถานการณ์ขณะนั้น มิโชอธิบายว่า “มันมีความตึงเครียดอยู่ในภาพพวกนี้ เป็นการต่อสู้เพื่อที่จะได้มาซึ่งความกลมเกลียว” ซึ่งเห็นได้ในลายพู่กันที่ตัดสีเข้มกับสีสด.
การวาดภาพของมิโชจะมีพื้นฐานจากความใกล้ชิดของเขากับสภาพธรรมชาติที่แวดล้อมอยู่ ความกังวลของเขาต่อสภาวะการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางภูมิอากาศสามารถมองเห็นได้ชัดในชุดภาพถ่าย ภูมิทัศน์ในจินตนาการ (Imaginary Landscapes) ที่มิโชได้แสดงถึงภาพภูมิทัศน์ของโลกคู่ขนาน หรืออาจจะเป็นโลกในอนาคต ไม่ว่าจะเป็นต้นไม้ที่เขารังสรรค์ให้เป็นอนุสรณ์แห่งอดีตหรือสัญลักษณ์ของการเกิดใหม่ มิโชให้ผู้ชมเป็นผู้ตัดสินเอง
ภาพชุดที่จัดแสดงคู่กันนี้ ทั้ง In Exile และ Imaginary Landscapes จะได้แสดงให้เห็นถึงโลกที่อยู่ภายในความคิดของเขาขณะที่เขาสร้างผลงานเพื่อที่จะแชร์ประสบการณ์ปัจจุบัน และสิ่งที่อาจจะเกิดขึ้นในอนาคตของเรา

L'Ambassade de Suisse présente Zeitgeist, une exposition de l'artiste suisse Michel Misho, composée de deux séries d’œuvres Imaginary Landscapes et In Exile. Celles-ci sont bien distinctes l’une de l’autre tout en restant interconnectées et représentent la diversité du langage artistique de Misho. Misho s'est installé en Thaïlande au début de l’année 2020 pour échapper à la propagation du coronavirus à San Francisco, où il résidait depuis 2009.
In Exile est une nouvelle série de peintures abstraites de Misho, produite en Thaïlande l'année dernière. Ces œuvres reflètent les sentiments oscillants d'espoir et de désespoir qui ont caractérisé cette période. "De nombreuses tensions sont présentes dans ces œuvres, c’est une lutte pour trouver l'harmonie", écrit Misho. Ces tensions se ressentent à travers l’obscurité dépeinte par le pinceau de l’artiste, interrompue par des éléments de couleurs vives.
La pratique de Misho est souvent ancrée dans sa relation avec la nature. Dans la série photographique Imaginary Landscapes, Misho met en avant ses préoccupations liées au changement climatique. Il y capture des scènes d'une réalité alternative, ou peut-être une vision de l'avenir. Que les arbres de ses créations soient des monuments du passé ou des symboles de renaissance, Misho laisse le choix au spectateur.
Les œuvres des séries In Exile et Imaginary Landscapes de Misho forment une vision du monde intérieur de l'artiste tout en s'appuyant sur une expérience partagée du présent et en laissant deviner un avenir collectif.
