Featuring cello, voice & electronic elements inspired by the work of Al Green, Bjork, Bach, Sun Ra, Elvin Jones + Mississippi John Hurt.
Zeelie Brown presents selections from their upcoming album 'The Breath of Thunder,' written right here in New Orleans. Zeelie is a cellist, composer, multimedia artist, farmer and chef. Their first art museum was the pine woods in Alabama and the limestone walls of San Antonio. Zeelie's work investigates the vernacular culture of the Black Gulf and Global South as a means of overcoming the legacies of genocidal white greed that threaten to drown our world. Various artists inspire Zeelie's work, such as Al Green, Bjork, Bach, Sun Ra, Elvin Jones, and Mississippi John Hurt, to name a few. Providing a new music, Zeelie will serenade with an intertwining of cello, voice, and electronics this evening.
