Join us on 29th November for the 15 years celebration of ZAMINA - Hanoi’s longest running band of international musicians!
A long, long time ago… waaaay back in 2010… before the days of Vinfast, before Circle K, before Nhat Tan bridge and even before HRC… a small group of foreigners got together to form “Hanoi’s ONLY afro-reggae band” - ZAMINA!
Founded by legendary Hanoi music maker Jamir Adiong and set in stone as soon as Tomi and Dave joined forces, what started as a group of lads playing grooves at backpacker hostels and Old Quarter bars soon grew into an ensemble of afro-beat enthusiasts and reggae lovers from all walks of life, sharing any sized stage and sharing the love of music and dance with the people of Hanoi. By 2012, Zamina had become at least 8 members - and even after Jamir parted ways with the band - the legacy continues to live on. 15 years later, over 25 official members, 100s of special guests, and countless unforgettable shows, Zamina still brings the afro-beat energy like nobody else... (we just take a little longer to recharge between gigs these days!)
Nov 29th at Hideout, we are celebrating 15yrs of Zamina with a super celebration and collaboration with all our music-loving family of misfits. Joining us are the reggae dancehall all-stars The Gratoners, special guest appearances from singers Emma & Gemma of The Soul Sistas, the ATH choir ensemble and maybe more… And if you thought that was enough to dance to… DJ Sheereen will keep things popping for the after party!
