AMERICAN INDIE ROCK ARTIST AND GUITARIST ZACH PERSON ANNOUNCES NEW LP AND 2021 TOUR
Person recently headlined the Amazon Web Services re:Invent virtual conference ahead of keynote speaker Andy Jassy, CEO;
European tour set for the books in 2021 with dates to be announced.
Today, BlackDenim Records announces that American indie rock artist and guitarist Zach Person will be releasing his debut, self-titled full length album on Friday, April 2, 2021, along with a supporting European tour in 2021. Produced by Will Loconto (Information Society/T-4-2), the project was initially released as an EP in March 2020, but was immediately put on hold due to the Covid pandemic. Now, nine months later, both the label and artist are preparing a re-release with the five original tracks and an expanded selection of new songs. The first single off Person’s initial EP, “Can’t Stop Running,” is currently available (click here to see the music video) and will certainly set the tone for what is to come. To check out Zach’s new website, check www.zachperson.com. And to stream his EP, visit Zach's Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon.

“It is a contemporary approach to blues and American roots music,” says Zach Person about his first single. “It harkens to the spirit of The Black Keys and Jack White, but with a sound that is uniquely my own. It encompasses the raw, grit and soul associated with Texas, and layers in modern elements and sounds of pop radio.”

Though his EP was put on hold due to the current pandemic, Person has shown no sign of slowing down. Last week, he headlined the AWS re:Invent virtual conference just ahead of keynote speaker Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon Web Services. The event marked the third time that Person has played the annual event. In 2018, Zach became the first live musical act to ever perform the conference, after he was discovered by Andy Jassy while playing a concert in Austin, Texas. To watch the performance, see here.

“Zach is arguably the greatest undiscovered indie artist to come out of North America in years, and it’s time that the world got to know him,” said Person’s manager, Christopher Durst. “If Prince and Billie Eilish ran away to West Texas, took some peyote, got abducted by aliens, and had a love affair, the result would be Zach Person.”

Once the pandemic slows down, Person hopes to take his new and highly-electric LP on the road in Europe, with plans to visit The Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and more.

“Like many artists, Covid has seriously affected our plans for 2020, but we remain hopeful that this will all be behind us soon, so we can get back to doing what we love, playing music for the fans,” said Person. “Having to sit on my debut EP has been really difficult, we had so much momentum going into 2020. All that said, I believe 2021 will be a defining year for me, and I couldn’t be more ready.”

Hailing from Houston, Texas, Person was first launched into the public eye in 2016 when he competed on the 15th season of American Idol; he quickly became a favorite with celebrity judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr with his indie-rock-infused, pop style. The experience gave him his first taste of the industry, but he is far from your typical Idol artist.

Following American Idol, Person was openly embraced by the Texas blues scene, becoming a House of Blues Music Forward Foundation Alumnus, and representing the Houston Blues Society at the International Blues Challenge, a competition featuring some of the foremost blues artists/guitarists from around the world; these opportunities would later lead to Person sharing the stage with legendary acts such as Buddy Guy and Robert Cray.

Person moved to Austin, Texas in 2017, where he was quickly discovered and signed by industry veteran, Christopher Durst, a music/photography entrepreneur and former rock photographer known for his work with Willie Nelson, Seasick Steve and more. Person and Durst then partnered with electronic music producer Will Loconto and immediately began production on Person’s debut EP. Loconto was chosen for his unique ability to blend indie rock, pop, and electronica, while also showcasing Person’s love for roots music and blues guitar. Person’s EP/LP features his long-time musical collaborator and eclectic drummer, Jake Wyble, who he met in Austin, Texas, and is actually from Cumberland County, New Jersey, the same area in which Person was born and lived until he was three years old, though they never knew each other.
After nearly two years in the studio, their collaboration would result in Person’s highly-electric, debut single, “All Shook Up,” a completely reimagined and modernized rendition of the Elvis Presley classic; this has earned Person a loyal fan base in indie and mainstream music.
“Zach is the future of American indie music - the illegitimate love child of The Black Keys and Lenny Kravitz,” says producer Will Loconto.

Person has since partnered with indie rock label, BlackDenim Records, which has unapologetically positioned Person as their flagship artist and given him complete creative control.

“BlackDenim has committed all of our resources to ensure the success of Zach’s upcoming LP; he is an amazing talent with incredible heart and on-stage charisma, and his sound is unlike anything we’ve ever heard - it’s absolutely electric!” said George Passakos, VP/Head of Marketing, BlackDenim Records. “We truly look forward to helping Zach become a global, household name.”
