About this Event
Yule Love NYC: Christmas Past, Present, Future
Daylight Savings Time got you down? Join us for a afternoon adventure through midtown Manhattan, as we explore the city’s starring role in the hidden history of Christmas. On this 90-minute tour, we’ll pull back the curtain on the capitalist Christmas traditions we know today to reveal a national holiday rooted in 19th century writerly imagination and European immigrant traditions. Like the ghosts of A Christmas Carol, we’ll also transport you to the future of this beloved holiday, and tell attendees how they can be part of maintaining the best of Christmas well into the 21st century.
Stops will include:
- Macy’s on 34th Street
- Bryant Park Winter Market
- New York Public Library
- Rockefeller Center
Please note: The 90 minute tour length does not include a return to our original starting point. We will conclude on 49th Street.
