You and yours are warmly invited to our Yule Community Feast (vegetarian potluck style) & Pagan Carol Singalong to celebrate the Winter Solstice & holiday cheer in the warmth of community. This is a family friendly event - children welcome.
Schedule:
4:30pm - Arrive
5:30pm - Feast!
7pm - Songs, with maybe an informal ceilidh (partnered dance), too
In honor of the age-old tradition of the feast, please bring a substantial feast-worthy dish to contribute (that could feed about 10-15 people) so that no one is left at the end of the line with hungry plates. We ask everything to be devotionally home-made, not purchased pre-made at a store.
Ideas of feast contributions:
- Vegetarian protein dishes (chili, tempeh, tofu, lentils, curries)
- Winter squash and potato dishes (butternut squash, sweet potato, mashed potatoes, etc.)
- Baked veggies
- Warm salads
- Home-made desserts - home-made only please :)
- Warm winter beverages
RSVP here, and comment in the discussion below what you plan to bring so that we can try to coordinate a full community meal.
Pagan Carol Singalong:
After dinner those who are interested can gather with us to sing a-capella pagan carols and other short songs in community by candle- or fire-light. No singing experience required. We'll bring songs, and you're welcome to bring some, too.
Musicians are also welcome to jam afterwards to their heart's desire.
About the tradition of "the Feast":
In cultures all around the world, the tradition of "the feast" was not merely a meal, but a ritual act of tribal bonding, binding people together throughout the year. These were days when essential work was put aside, and extra care was given to create a special celebration of good food, drink, and community. Let's bring back the feast! - words adapted from Fell & Fair
Volunteers: We could use 4 volunteers to help us with the set-up (2) and clean-up (2) of this gathering. Please contact us to sign up: 786-277-1737. Thank you!
